and why people say to me “can’t you just catch a break?”
Typically when friends and family are upset about some other hurdle or sideways path that pops up I just shrug my shoulders and move on. Every body is different and heals in its own way. Sometimes the path to getting better is paved with some bumps and I react to them like I do to most things – let’s get it dealt with and move on
Today however, I official join the WTH club. Yesterday I finally caved and went to urgent care. I had been having increased pain in my arm all week and it had kept me up all night on Friday. It was this unrelenting pain that had significantly reduced my ability to do anything functional with my right hand. And it brought me to tears, which never happens.
After a long visit and an ultrasound, they found a blood clot in my arm near the elbow. And that is what is causing all of my pain.
Seriously. A blood clot.
Now this isn’t one of the big scary blood clots that can kill you, which is a DVT. This is a superficial blood clot that is just making me miserable.
So now I get to take blood thinners for 6 weeks. The pain (supposedly) will gradually subside and that should be the end of it.
WTH. That’s all I have to say.
Enough is enough.
Funny – my surgical incisions don’t hurt at all. Instead I get to take tons of pain meds for this arm.
