Another weekend sneaks by with a wonderful ending. After planting, running errands, tilling the garden, and cleaning the house, we were given the great honor of meeting a group of officers and riders from the City Heat Motorcycle club. On this cold, wet day, where the temperature dropped 30 degrees from yesterday, a large group of motorcycle riders left the Wells Sport Tavern, and rode the day away until 6 pm.
We met up with this group at the 1029 Bar in Minneapolis – the large bikes, many with multiple riders, pulled into the small parking lot two by two. As the parking lot filled, other riders turned to the other side of the bar to park themselves. The boys couldn’t get enough of the bikes – we had to walk around the building several times so they could look at every one. I think the favorite – of course – was the one with the word POLICE on the side of it.
We were able to grab some food in the quickly filling bar (really great mac and cheese) and sit for a bit. It was such a pleasure meeting current and retired officers from Prior Lake, Golden Valley, Minneapolis and countless others. I am so happy to be able to tell people about Frank’s continued progress, the support we continue to receive from so many people and departments, and how great it is to continue to meet so many officers. People were amazed at how great Frank looks, which I continue to say will be hard for him to deal wtih as we move forward. Because he looks great, people presume that he is healed, that there are no issues and he is ready to work. If only it was so – if his brain was in the same shape as his body, I would have closed out this blog and had to find something else to write about.
The boys each got to draw a name for the raffle, and we headed home to end another weekend, exhausted, but always better for the people that we met, and the wonderful support that we felt.
Thank you City Heat – it was a pleasure to be in your company this evening.
